I attended the G-Shock 25th anniversary party in NYC last night, with big names likeSpike Lee and Kanye West in attendance. Not only was Kanye West there but, he gave a mini-concert and boy, was it bonkers.

Spike Lee debuted his collaboration with G-Shock last evening as well. Lee a long G-Shock fan, as evidenced by his introduction of G-Shock in his 1995 film Clockers, he has created a short film commemorating G-Shock’s 25th anniversary. The collaboration is part of the company’s efforts to ignite a movement through activities in the cultural sphere. The collection of basically all black watches with big watch faces and gold accents.

I wasnt able to make The Glow in the Dark concert here, in New York, on tuesday but was more than excited when Ye took the stage for a 35-minute set. His backdrop was filled with flashing neon lights, topless dancers, an amazing band and great background singers. Kanye had on these glasses that were soooo crazy. They had a light strip across the top of the frame that was like the front of Kit from Knight Rider’s hood. He performed all of his hits excluding Jesus Walks, even free-styling and dropping a rhyme he says he just had written the morning before. The future was definitely Kanye’s destination and he took all of us there. This cat is such an amazing artist. He inspired me to go for more in my creative life.

It was an eventful evening. I even hung out with the “Addictive”, choreographer Laurie Ann “Boom Kack” Gibson from Making the Band fame who is a riot. She dances, she sings, she’s everywhere. I love her spunk and zest for living and enjoying it. The girl is hot!

The party was hot and they gave out great gift bags and boxes including: an anniversary t-shirt, G-Shock watch, a catalogue and DVD of Spike’s movie. Thanks Deb and Happy-Birthday G-Shock!!
