The Legendary YSL Dies at 71!

The end of an era has come upon us with the passing of Yves Saint Laurent to cancer at the age of 71. Laurent who has been said to be the last of a generation along with other revolutionaries  Christian Dior and CoCo Channel who helped make Paris the fashion capital of the globe.

YSL, suiting women in styled tuxedo pants and suits, changed women’s fashion forever. Although this came with controversy when many women were turned away from eateries in Paris and in the U.S.  In his own words, Saint Laurent said he felt “fashion was not only supposed to make women beautiful, but to reassure them, to give them confidence, to allow them to come to terms with themselves.”

With every beginning there is an end.  Yves Saint Laurent life came with many ups and downs, as with many celebrated artist, but he leaves behind him a legacy that will continue and be seen throughout time as we know it.  You can read more on the life and times of the late great Yves Saint Laurent here.  God bless him and his family.
