I caught up with designer, Rakiyt Zakari to describe The Original David’s Fall/Winter collection and she let me in a on the theme for this season saying, ” the title of this line is “It’s Academic“, with my inspiration being education, intelligence, and knowledge and the nostalgia of the three. The word play pieces are a throwback to grade school brainteasers yet with a more tongue in cheek message. “Defeated”  ”Aye Homeboy” “Ahead” use the juxtaposition of letters and pictures to make words and phrases. The “Ahead” and “Myth” crewnecks pay visual homage to the greeks who in history were some of the greatest philosophers.  Check out the entire collection or get a custom order piece at their newly designed website.
